The Dominik Pettey ‘ 15 Scholarship Fund was established to perpetuate the memory of Dominik Pettey of the Gonzaga Class of 2015 and enable a deserving young man who could otherwise not afford the cost of tuition to realize his dream of a Gonzaga education.  The scholarship recipient will have demonstrated in his young life the core values exemplified by Dominik of a deep devotion to faith, family, and friends.

The Gonzaga Hockey Program will kick off its 2015-16 season with the Inaugural Dominik Pettey’15 Memorial Purple-White Game on November 6th at 4:30 PM at the Fort Dupont Ice Arena in Washington, DC, to remember the late Dominik Pettey ’15, who died tragically in a car accident in November 2014.  This inter-squad game and pre-game outdoor festival will feature the Washington Capitals Street Team, the Red Rockers, and Capitals mascot Slapshot to raise awareness for the Dominik Pettey ’15 Scholarship Fund.

This year, Gonzaga Hockey is thrilled to have the support of the Washington Capitals and Fort Dupont Ice Arena to bring a festival atmosphere to the event.  The Washington Capitals’ Street Hockey Team will bring the excitement of the game of hockey to fans and the Fort Dupont community before the game, weather permitting, in the arena parking lot.  The Capitals have also donated autographed team gear to be raffled during the event.  Commemorative “Dominik Pettey ’15 Memorial Purple-White Game” T-shirts will also be sold prior to the event and at the game.

Admission to the hockey game is free, however, donations of any kind will be accepted at the door with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Dominik Pettey ’15 Scholarship Fund.  Those unable to attend the event are encouraged to consider making a tax-deductible, secure online donation to the scholarship fund to support another young man’s journey through Gonzaga.  Details can be found at www.gonzaga.org/petteyscholarship or on the Gonzaga Hockey webpage at www.gonzagahockey.org.

Autographed Capitals gear is available on this online auctio with 100% of the proceeds going to the Dominik Pettey Scholarship Fund.
